Tenerife through the eyes of a student

We invite you to read the recap of our student Monica, from her year-long stay in Tenerife under the Erasmus+ program!!!
“Tenerife? Great decision! Studying in a warm climate, amazing views and people from all over the world - this trip will definitely stay with me for a long time.
I found a room before departure, but upon arrival it turned out that it was not available, however. It is worth using the website idealista.com and Facebook groups - there you can find rooms, and on Erasmus groups you can additionally meet other students. Thanks to this, I met people with whom I had a great time on the island and with whom I plan to return there.
First day at the university? I come ready for classes, and at the reception desk I find out that the carnival has just started, so lectures do not start until next week. I won't say, I was in a slight shock - in Poland something like this would not likely pass. The atmosphere at the university itself was great - lecturers and students are very open, and on the very first day I ran into someone who has lived on the island since forever and, like me, loves the mountains. He recommended a lot of interesting places, which I then managed to visit.
One of the best moments of the trip was climbing Teide, the highest peak in Spain. Already flying to the island, I knew I wanted to climb there. After four days in Tenerife, together with a friend I met there, we set out on the trail. Several hours of climbing at night, unfavorable weather - temperature around 0 degrees, ice on the trail and strong wind - it was really hard at times, but the view at sunrise made up for everything. It was worth it!
This trip allowed me not only to meet people with whom I will probably keep in touch throughout my life, but also to see that it is possible to approach life in a completely different way. Of course, it wasn't always colorful. There were difficult moments that taught me a lot and showed me how to cope when things don't go according to plan. And that's what makes Erasmus fulfilled its purpose 100% - it gave me both unforgettable memories and valuable lessons for the future.”
